# PHASE//VOID MCP — public scene and project planning

Canonical documentation: https://phasevoid.com/connect/mcp/
Endpoint: https://phasevoid.com/mcp
Transport: stateless Streamable HTTP, POST. Clients must accept application/json and text/event-stream. Supported protocol versions: 2025-03-26, 2025-06-18 and 2025-11-25.

The endpoint has thirteen read-only tools. It accepts bounded configuration/text requests, without audio, artwork, video, visitor sessions or private source code. No tool runs Studio remotely, starts a performance, purchases anything or publishes media. A returned link is a plan for a user to review and open. An assistant's own data handling depends on its provider.

| Tool | Purpose |
| --- | --- |
| search_docs | Search 28 curated public workflows by problem/control/output; exact steps and guide links. |
| get_doc | Read one exact public workflow ID returned by search_docs. |
| create_look_link | Turn a public world, ten numeric look controls and dimensions into an explicit-review link; no private Studio access. |
| list_show_starters | Find three editable procedural recipes and one separate fixed original clip-show kit. |
| list_scenes | Find public scene names, descriptions, references and safe links. |
| get_scene | Read one scene by its exact public ID. |
| get_capabilities | Read actual Studio inputs, output shapes and recording limits. |
| plan_visual_session | Plan one scene with file/live/demo starting path and an output ratio. |
| plan_visual_project | Plan one world; live-purpose homepage review places it in the Drop of a four-act starter. Studio keeps the single-world setup. |
| plan_mapped_show | Build a full 2–8-act mapped show with surface FX, timing, canvas and A/B banks; review the exact same plan on the homepage or in the live guide. |
| plan_projection_setup | Generate a bounded one-projector starter map JSON with review/Studio links. |
| plan_live_mix | Plan two procedural decks and a picture crossfader. |
| get_embed_snippet | Prepare an iframe snippet for the separate public player. |

## Find a show starting point

Call `list_show_starters` with `{}`. The result contains `starters` and `limits`: Warehouse pressure, Living metal and Optical drift are distinct four-act procedural recipes; Layers in motion is a separate fixed original clip kit. Each record includes its public ID, kind, description, world IDs and absolute canonical home/Studio/session URLs. The procedural records include a validated `plan`, empty `sources` and `proofUrl: null`: their static scene references are not recorded full-show previews. The clip record has `plan: null`, original loop/audio source URLs and a recorded rehearsal URL. The endpoint does not download media or access a private session.

Use a procedural record's `plan` with `plan_mapped_show` to customize 2–8 acts. This existing tool returns `sessionFile`, `reviewUrl` for the detailed live-guide planner, **`homeReviewUrl` for the central homepage composer**, and `studioUrl`. Both review links carry the same exact full plan; its input schema is unchanged. The [show library](https://phasevoid.com/#show-library) and [composer](https://phasevoid.com/#project-builder) use the same model. The fixed clip kit has its own **Load complete clip show** action; the procedural planner does not edit its clips.

In Studio, review then press **Load planned show**. **Undo planned show** restores replaced settings in the current tab until reload; media needs reattaching. Press **Prepare show**, start audio deliberately, then **Run**. A setup link starts no audio or performance and grants no input permission. Check actual output and a short recording before performing.

## Single-world project and homepage review

Use list_scenes first to find the exact sceneId. plan_visual_project requires all six fields:

```json
{"intent":"video","sceneId":"laser-cathedral","audioSource":"file","aspectRatio":"9:16","outputSize":1080,"motion":"gentle"}
```

intent is video, live or explore. Video and exploration accept file or demo; live accepts demo, file or live. aspectRatio is 16:9, 4:3, 9:16 or 1:1. outputSize is the shorter canvas edge: 540, 720, 1080 or 2160. motion is gentle or full. This example produces a 1080 × 1920 portrait canvas with the Rave laser preset and gentler motion.

The result contains project, dimensions, public scene metadata, reviewUrl for the homepage, studioUrl and setup steps. The Studio link keeps the single-world project. For live purpose, homepage review selects a four-act procedural starter with the chosen world as Drop, preserving audio starting path, frame, size and motion. Video/exploration review keeps the single-world setup. Use `plan_mapped_show` when both destinations must receive the same complete show. Homepage Preview runs one selected world with public demo audio after a click, at a lower preview size; it does not preview the full mapped composition. Local media, audio playback and live-input permission require explicit user actions in Studio.

Output dimensions and target recording frame rates are not device performance guarantees. Use Studio's output check and a short recording before a live show or long take. The existing planners still support their original input schemas, including wider Studio ratios where documented.

## Privacy and limits

Only public configuration goes in a recipe URL; normal website/hosting requests can therefore receive those settings. Selected user media remains on the user's device. Single-world project links do not carry recordings, uploaded files, tuned controls, titles, mapping surfaces or session storage. Complete-show recipes contain public starter choices, without private names, media or later calibrated geometry. MCP does not load a private repository or connect to the user's audio equipment. Invalid fields, unknown scenes, incompatible purposes/sources and uncontrolled output sizes are rejected.

## One-projector starter map

`plan_projection_setup` requires all seven fields. Use known world IDs from `list_scenes`; `worldIds` must have one item per starter surface even in Program mode.

```json
{"layout":"triptych","sourceMode":"independent","worldIds":["laser-cathedral","interference","chrome-cocoon"],"aspectRatio":"16:9","outputSize":720,"audioSource":"demo","motion":"gentle"}
```

Layouts are screen (1 surface), triptych (3), corner (2) and booth (3). Output shape is 16:9, 4:3, 9:16 or 1:1; short edge is 540, 720, 1080 or 2160; audio starting path is demo, file or live; motion is gentle or full. All choices are validated. Program Triptych splits thirds and Corner splits halves; Screen/Booth repeat the full Program picture. Independent sources use whole worlds with fixed editable looks.

The result includes exact dimensions, compatible mapFile JSON, a guide reviewUrl and studioUrl. Opening Studio preserves its previous map/canvas until Apply layout & canvas. This action stores the previous map in Mapping Undo; Undo restores map settings, not canvas dimensions or motion. The link and action start no sound or calibration pattern and grant no input permission. Align corners manually and check actual output before a performance.

Map JSON contains geometry, crops, worlds and looks, without media or canvas/audio setup. The recipe URL adds those public starting choices, without private names or media. Edited Studio maps are saved separately using Save map; a starter link does not contain later manual edits. The planner does not inspect a room, operate a physical projector, create a 3D mesh, edge-blend projectors, read user sessions or expose private Git source.

### From a starter map to a saved show

The projection planner returns a starter map and public setup links, not an edited show. In Studio, apply and align the map, then open Mapping → Surface show to append Intro / Build / Drop / Breakdown. Add cue and Recapture save each surface’s visuals, look, FX and crops without capturing calibrated geometry. Surface cues support Cut, Dissolve, Dip or Wipe and preserve current corners and masks; missing IDs stop the sequence without changing the output. Save full session includes map, canvas, cues, timing and mixer. Map JSON and starter links do not save subsequent show edits. Media stays separate, and import does not run the queue. The MCP cannot read or change a private saved show.

<!-- full-show-planner:start -->
## Plan a complete mapped show

`plan_mapped_show` shares the bounded recipe and full-session generator used by the [existing one-projector planner](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#projection-starters). Use `list_scenes` to obtain exact public world IDs, then follow the tool's input schema.

Choose Screen, Triptych, Corner or Booth; Program or independent worlds; **2–8 acts** with worlds, palette and surface FX (Off/Kaleidoscope/Pixelation/RGB split); Cut or 0.25–4-second Dissolve/Dip/Wipe; Manual, 0.25–3600-second or 1–64-bar holds; whole **30–300 BPM** with 4/4 bars; two different A/B act selections; and canvas, motion and demo/file/live starting choices. The result includes **full Session JSON**, plus planner-review and Studio links. Map, canvas, cues, timing and saved banks are included; audio, artwork and video bytes are separate. This complements the map-only `plan_projection_setup` and single-look `plan_visual_project` tools.

The tool does not read or change a private saved show, open Studio, play media, request device permissions or run a performance remotely. The user follows **Review my show in Studio**, reviews, then presses **Load planned show**. **Undo planned show** restores replaced settings in the current tab until reload; media files need reattaching. Audio and performance start only through separate user actions.

The recipe link contains public IDs, choices and numbers, without private names, titles, files, later room calibration or subsequent edits. Recipients and normal hosting requests can read these choices. Keep later Studio edits in a saved full session. Information sent to an assistant is also subject to its provider's policies.

All ten fields are required: `layout`, `sourceMode`, `aspectRatio`, `outputSize`, `audioSource`, `motion`, `bpm`, `acts`, `deckA`, `deckB`. Each act has exactly `worldIds`, `fxIds`, `palette`, `hold` and `transition`. Bank indices are zero-based and must select different existing acts. In Program mode supply one world per act; in independent mode supply one per surface. Supply one FX choice per surface in either mode. Use `list_scenes` to find exact public world IDs.

Example arguments for two independent corner surfaces:

```json
{"layout":"corner","sourceMode":"independent","aspectRatio":"16:9","outputSize":720,"audioSource":"demo","motion":"gentle","bpm":142,"acts":[{"worldIds":["orbital-glass","interference"],"fxIds":["off","off"],"palette":1,"hold":{"mode":"manual","value":0},"transition":{"mode":"cut","seconds":0}},{"worldIds":["wire-loom","liquid-mandala"],"fxIds":["off","off"],"palette":2,"hold":{"mode":"manual","value":0},"transition":{"mode":"dissolve","seconds":1.5}}],"deckA":0,"deckB":1}
```

### Saved-act editing stays in Studio

Edit cue copies a saved act into an isolated draft: Program controls, two clip assignments and their trim/opacity/blend/fit/flip/rate/loop/play-on-recall/order, master FX and captured surface looks/crops/FX. Current calibrated corners and masks remain. Preview draft is explicit, muted, 640 px on its longest edge and targets about eight updates per second, using existing audio analysis without starting a source. It excludes global live title/artwork overlays, which cues do not capture; stage Freeze/Blackout do not replace draft Pause preview. Editing releases Preview; request it again to refresh. Save closes and updates only the cue; Cancel discards the draft. Save is blocked during recording, loading, pending launches, transitions or a running sequence. Undo saved edit restores one saved edit in this tab while its cue is unchanged; it is not persistent history. Legacy cues keep live clips/FX until explicitly enabled or copied from current Program and saved. Saving can retain missing dependencies; Preview and Prepare show require attached usable media. The original rehearsal explicitly loads two paused loops and opens the Drop draft, with audio separate. Native before/after session downloads differ only in Drop, with public Freeze off for replay. Read-only MCP cannot access drafts/private sessions or edit, preview, save or fire cues.

Public rehearsal: [original act](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?panel=layers&clip-show=1&cue-pads=1&act-editor=1) or [edited act](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?panel=layers&clip-show=1&cue-pads=1&act-editor=after); explicit **Load act editing rehearsal** / **Load edited act rehearsal** replaces current settings only after your click, attaches original paused loops and opens Drop without starting audio. Save your own session first. [Before settings JSON](https://phasevoid.com/examples/act-editor/session-before.json) and [after settings JSON](https://phasevoid.com/examples/act-editor/session-after.json) contain no media; only Drop differs. Public Freeze is off for replay. [Revised Drop recording](https://phasevoid.com/examples/act-editor/performance.webm) and [encoded-file report](https://phasevoid.com/examples/act-editor/recording-check.json) document only Drop after restore/preparation, not the full queue or editing clicks; final packet tail and content A/V synchronization remain unverified. These public examples do not give read-only MCP access to your draft or let it load, preview, save or fire a cue. [Full workflow](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#sequence).

### Selected-act transfers stay in Studio

Act Packs exports selected complete cues to local JSON and preflights imports before appending to the receiving show. Captured Program controls, two clip layers/playback intent/master FX, surface looks/crops/FX and cue holds/transitions transfer; current Program, audio, timing, MIDI, output dimensions/export options and calibrated corners/masks do not. Explicit media dropdowns reuse entries matching filename, size, decoded dimensions and duration within 0.1 seconds, or create new detached descriptors. Modified time is not the match and metadata is not a content hash. Unique matches default to reuse; ambiguous matches default to a new detached entry. Cue IDs and new media IDs regenerate. Bind every source surface to a current target, with no two source looks in one cue sharing a target, or explicitly disable captured surface looks. Unknown/unbound choices block append. Limits are 512 KB JSON, 32 total cues, 12 library entries and 512 MB total library media. Undo last pack import removes that latest import’s unchanged acts and unused detached entries, retaining reattached/loaded media and used entries; changed imported acts block Undo, while changes to earlier acts remain. No media bundle, upload, automatic fire or remote MCP control.

[Open Act Packs](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?panel=layers&act-packs=1) and review the public [original pack](https://phasevoid.com/examples/act-packs/original.json) / [revised pack](https://phasevoid.com/examples/act-packs/revised.json). Source files are separate: [loop A](https://phasevoid.com/examples/clip-show/loop-a.webm) and [loop B](https://phasevoid.com/examples/clip-show/loop-b.webm). [GUI-generated/copied pack](https://phasevoid.com/examples/act-packs/exported.json), [synthetic full receiving session](https://phasevoid.com/examples/act-packs/receiving-session.json) and [four imported-act output](https://phasevoid.com/examples/act-packs/performance.webm) document the public rehearsal. The full-session fixture intentionally replaces demo settings when imported; ordinary pack append does not. Output was saved locally and reopened, with unknown final packet tail and unverified A/V synchronization. This read-only connection cannot read or apply a private pack, match files, bind surfaces or fire acts. [Complete transfer/recovery instructions](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#act-packs).

### File rendering is an explicit Studio job

The existing read-only tools can explain [the file-render workflow](https://phasevoid.com/guides/youtube-visualizer/#file-render) and link to public instructions. They cannot select or decode private media, inspect a private timeline or map, start/cancel a render, or save/reopen a user's film. No new rendering tool is implied. Local MP3/WAV plus a current composition or reviewed queue is required; media are separate from session JSON, Manual holds need durations, and live gestures are not recreated. File rendering does not install the app for offline use or give a sync verdict.

[Open the first-film setup](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?flow=video&file-render=1) for the selected composition, or [open the complete original example setup](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?file-render=1&render-example=1). Both require user actions. **Load four-act example** validates/decodes the known public session, loops and WAV before replacing worlds, mapping, sequence, clips, title/timing; current output frame/size/motion stay. **Undo example setup** restores prior settings and loaded local clips paused. A local File already selected in this Studio tab is handed off silently; choosing an own track keeps composition. No link automatically loads, plays or renders.

The public example supplies a [synthetic starting session](https://phasevoid.com/examples/file-render/session.json), separate [original loop A](https://phasevoid.com/examples/clip-show/loop-a.webm), [loop B](https://phasevoid.com/examples/clip-show/loop-b.webm) and [WAV](https://phasevoid.com/examples/clip-show/sound.wav), the actual [four-act WAV/WebM output](https://phasevoid.com/examples/file-render/performance.webm) and a [bounded independent decode/waveform report](https://phasevoid.com/examples/file-render/decode-check.json). Its 12-second timeline produced 360 distinct decoded pictures while 6× CPU throttling made processing take about 26 seconds. PCM alignment covers three windows only; no general reaction/physical-sync or native-browser download-completion verdict follows.

### Surface looks are prepared and taken in Studio

Mapping → select a surface → Browse & tune world opens Surface Look Studio for that named surface. Search the existing world library and tune a copied world look and surface FX off air. Reset draft restores the opening draft; Cancel discards it. Take to the named surface changes only its visual and effects, keeping calibrated corners, masks, crop, opacity, blend, visibility, ordering and every other surface. Mapping Undo restores the earlier take; applied looks are retained by maps, sessions and captured surface cues. No action starts audio or requests an input permission.

Surface Look Studio shows a bounded, muted source preview against the current audio analysis, scene clock and selected pulse, if available. It excludes source crop, calibrated geometry, masks, opacity/blend, video layers, overlays and master FX; check the final mapped output after Take. Moving preview stops during recording and when closed or hidden, and can fall back to a reference still without preventing Take. Opening/applying a draft is blocked during recording, cue playback/preparation or transitions and active A/B mixing. It does not prove physical-projector alignment, frame rate or sound-to-screen latency; read-only MCP cannot inspect, tune or take a private surface.

[Complete surface-draft workflow](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#surface-look-draft). The thirteen read-only tools describe this capability; no new tool controls a surface.

<!-- full-show-planner:end -->

## Local file tempo preparation

The free MP3/WAV BPM finder analyzes an 8–60 second section locally and silently, shows ranked tempo alternatives and half/double-time choices, and transfers the selected track to Studio only after explicit receipt. Find tempo in Studio reuses the loaded file. Apply tempo changes BPM only; it does not start sound, align beat one, change playback speed or compensate physical latency. No file, waveform, filename or tempo-analysis result is uploaded or cached by this tool. [Human tool](https://phasevoid.com/tools/bpm-detector/). MCP can describe the workflow but cannot receive or analyze private audio.

## Reproduce a Journal workshop

Five Journal workshops connect first-party methods to exact public recipes: an eight-act techno set with authored looks and manual holds, a four-act contrast study, a three-surface one-projector composition, a catalog A/B audition and one world in landscape, portrait and square. Opening a link shows a review only. Load exercise / Undo exercise in Studio and Load A/B exercise / Undo A/B exercise in the catalog are explicit. Show exercises also provide explicit local-track rehearsal and a complete-queue film handoff. Fit and review film durations separately from live Manual holds. Sound, media selection, live permissions and rendering remain separate. These are editable browser exercises, not calibrated venue geometry, a timecoded performance or a physical synchronization guarantee.

- [Space → Pressure → Release → Return](https://phasevoid.com/journal/visual-set-contrast/#workshop): [16:9 exercise](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?journal-exercise=visual-set-contrast).

- [One world, three actual canvas shapes](https://phasevoid.com/journal/portrait-visual-composition/#workshop): [16:9 exercise](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?journal-exercise=portrait-visual-composition&exercise-frame=16%3A9) · [9:16 exercise](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?journal-exercise=portrait-visual-composition&exercise-frame=9%3A16) · [1:1 exercise](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?journal-exercise=portrait-visual-composition&exercise-frame=1%3A1).

Read-only MCP returns public workshop instructions and known-ID launch links only. It cannot inspect private sessions, files, selected passages or calibration, apply or undo an exercise, control playback, or certify a projector installation.
### Local multi-format film delivery

File render can keep Current Studio frame or prepare up to three selected delivery targets: 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1, with a 540/720/1080-pixel short edge. One local MP3/WAV passage and reviewed composition supply the targets. Review checks exact encoder support and renders each target’s first-frame still; this is not a motion preview. Targets render sequentially. Cancel retains completed films; Continue missing targets processes unfinished targets without rerendering completed ones. Each result has explicit download, inspection, saved-confirmation and protected discard. Retained results share a 750 MB budget. Program settings/frame remain unchanged; playback is paused and monitoring does not start automatically.

The local File, selected range, target previews, reviewed composition and generated films stay in this tab’s local workflow; they are not uploaded or placed in public setup links. Reload still requires local media again. Nothing renders, plays sound or requests live-input permission merely from opening the link. Read-only MCP can explain the public workflow; it cannot inspect private media or start, cancel, continue or save a delivery. This is browser processing, not an offline application, cloud backup or automatic YouTube upload.

The first-frame preview and encoded metadata do not verify a finished film’s motion, decoded soundtrack alignment or physical projection. [Public delivery-set instructions](https://phasevoid.com/guides/youtube-visualizer/#file-render-deliveries).

### Planned show with a local soundtrack

A homepage procedural show can continue to Studio with the same selected local MP3/WAV. Receive selected track loads audio paused with monitoring off; Load planned show and settings-only Undo remain separate from audio. The embedded rehearsal guides Prepare show, deliberate audio/sequence starts, short recording and actual saved-file checking. Homepage Preview shows one selected world, not the whole mapped show. Setup links, saved sessions and read-only MCP exclude the File; local processing is not an offline installation or physical-performance certification.

MCP can describe the public recipe and workflow; it cannot receive a private File, request input permissions or prepare, play, run, record or save the private show. [Complete operational guide](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#show-soundtrack).

### Film-only act timing and soundtrack storyboard

File render can fit every queued act to a selected local MP3/WAV passage using editable film-only hold seconds, without changing the live queue. Coverage warnings require an explicit partial/extended-show approval. Sequence Review causally replays the first selected output at film FPS and samples later holds, transitions and the final picture; thumbnail stills do not certify motion or synchronization. The reviewed plan feeds the existing serial multi-format renderer. Manual BPM supports 30–300; fit does not detect beats, snap phrases or stretch audio.

The loaded web app is required; this is not an offline installation. Audio and local media are not uploaded or included in shared recipes, saved settings or read-only MCP responses. The existing limits are 30 minutes and 750 MB across the retained delivery set; codec, resolution, GPU and memory support vary by device. Live microphone/tab audio and performed MIDI or pad changes use real-time Capture instead. A physical projector still needs on-site calibration and checking.

MCP describes the public workflow; it cannot receive a private File or run, prepare, render or save a user's Studio. [Operational instructions](https://phasevoid.com/guides/youtube-visualizer/#film-storyboard).

### Soundtrack entry cue sheet

File render offers Soundtrack entry times for a complete cue queue: edit absolute soundtrack seconds or Place here at the separate PCM preview playhead. Each entry starts the incoming transition on the nearest film frame; the first act stays at passage start. Invalid order, bounds, overlapping transitions or holds shorter than 0.25 seconds block Review. A changed soundtrack, passage, FPS or show requires an explicit reset of retained entries. Preview windows can start later in the file and decode at most 60 seconds, with monitoring off by default. The selected film passage and live cues stay unchanged; no beat detection or physical sync guarantee is implied.

[Public instructions](https://phasevoid.com/guides/youtube-visualizer/#soundtrack-cue-sheet). Read-only MCP cannot inspect private files, entry edits or passages, control the preview or render a film.

### Create a public tuned-look review link

Tool: **create_look_link**. Share procedural look captures the Program world, ten numeric look controls and canvas dimensions in a URL fragment. Opening it keeps the current Studio. Review shared look opens a bounded moving clean-source preview; Apply look to Program is explicit and keeping the recipient frame is the default. Undo restores the previous source and frame until newer edits. Audio, clips, artwork, titles, calibrated mapping, master FX, cues, MIDI and global motion choices are excluded. MCP create_look_link makes the same public review link without private session access.

Arguments (all ten controls are required; additional fields are rejected):

```json
{
  "sceneId": "laser-braid",
  "look": {
    "palette": 2,
    "intensity": 1.65,
    "speed": 1.45,
    "complexity": 0.8,
    "bloom": 0.6,
    "symmetry": 9,
    "zoom": 1.1,
    "rotation": 24,
    "grain": 0.02,
    "chromatic": 0.1
  },
  "frame": {
    "width": 1280,
    "height": 720
  }
}
```

[Public Studio workflow](https://phasevoid.com/guides/music-visualizer/#share-look). A link is a public numeric recipe; sound/phase/motion differ. A user explicitly reviews, applies and checks the complete output. MCP cannot inspect private files or remotely operate Studio.

### Search practical public documentation

**search_docs** takes a required query (1–180 characters), optional category and limit (1–6). Categories: Audio & timing; Look & style; Projection; Video & formats; Live & media; Support. It searches 28 curated task workflows, not private files or every word of the site. Results contain stable IDs, exact control locations, ordered steps, limitations, canonical guide URLs and Studio review links. Unknown searches can return no results. **get_doc** takes one exact result id and returns that public workflow. Neither tool executes Studio or grants permissions.

Example arguments: `{"query":"different effects on surfaces","limit":3}`. Then `get_doc` with `{"id":"surface-worlds"}`. [Browse the same task finder](https://phasevoid.com/guides/#task-finder). The site's human search runs locally without sending or storing typed queries; remote MCP queries are explicitly sent to the endpoint by the assistant/client.

## Local file beat grid

Sound → Timing & beat sync → Align file beat grid decodes a 2–32 second waveform window locally and silently. The operator places beat one, enters 30–300 BPM, inspects later windows for drift and deliberately applies BPM, file alignment and Track sync. Guarded Undo restores the earlier BPM, exact file phase and pulse source. Track sync and file-render reviews/films use the same pulse envelope at absolute soundtrack seconds, including trimmed starts and pulse delay. A different soundtrack cannot borrow the loaded file’s grid. Audio, playback, cue-grid position, mapping and delay stay separate. Alignment lasts in this tab for this file; replacement, session load and reload reset it. No changing tempo map, automatic downbeat detection, audio stretching or physical latency correction. [Human instructions](https://phasevoid.com/guides/music-visualizer/#file-beat-grid). MCP cannot read private audio or operate this editor.

## Studio: Sound → Look → Output

Studio starts with three steps: Sound chooses MP3/WAV or an explicitly permitted live input; Look chooses a procedural world and its controls; Output sets aspect ratio/resolution and opens a projector or the frame-by-frame music-video renderer. Record video in the header is the separate realtime capture path. Layers & text groups Title & logo, Soundwave layer, Video layers and Mix two worlds. Effects controls Program before mapping; independent surface FX belong to the selected surface in Mapping. Worlds opens the world browser, Video library opens local media management, and Show opens the cue sequence. The Studio section selector stays available on compact screens and in Stage view. Save and Import session share the header menu, alongside help and Loxone control. Named advanced disclosures keep timing, MIDI and display tools available. Selecting a section changes navigation and its URL, not audio playback, show settings, output pixels or projector state.

1. Sound → Open MP3 / WAV, Microphone or Tab / system. Check source/meters and control playback explicitly. Timing & beat sync contains BPM, pulse and MIDI.
2. Look → Choose a visual world, then adjust the scene. A mixer’s copied decks and off-air preview still require an explicit Take.
3. Output → frame/resolution → Open projector window or Render music video. Record video in the header captures live performance instead. Check the actual saved output.

Layers & text contains Title & logo, Soundwave layer, Video layers and Mix two worlds. Effects changes Program before mapping; independent surface FX live in Mapping. Header Worlds, Video library and Show reach their actual tools. Save/Import session share the header menu; media bytes remain separate.

[Full workflow and scope table](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#studio-workflow).

## Beat-loop effect modulation

Beat loop is a separate driver in Effects or the selected mapping surface’s Audio links & beat loops editor. Each of four targets—Kaleidoscope, Pixelation, RGB split and FX amount—can use Manual, one existing audio band, or its own beat loop. Loops have Low/High endpoints, a quarter-beat to sixteen-bar period, Cycle offset and Sine, Triangle, Ramp, Alternating or deterministic Step random shape. Reversed endpoints reverse the response. Track sync follows the loaded file’s BPM/aligned beat-one grid through seeks and trimmed renders; other sources use the existing manual BPM grid, starting at film zero for file rendering. Visual timing offset also shifts loop phase. Gentler motion makes loops four times slower. Loops do not detect beats, start audio or alter playback speed. Program/surface loops share the same clock and persist in their settings, maps, sessions and captured acts; they do not reset on each cue or surface selection. Freeze holds final output while the clock can continue. Bypass retains routing, Manual removes one route and Clear links removes every route in that editor. Public MCP describes the feature without reading or operating private Studio settings. [Complete workflow](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#beat-loops).

## Local Stage workspace

Stage view enlarges the operator preview by folding the tools, world library and show-sequence editor. Hide controls also folds the inspector and mapping edit handles; Show controls or an explicit Map/inspector navigation reveals it. The transport, Freeze, Blackout, Record video and Go live remain available. Back to Studio or Escape returns to the full workspace; Escape respects open dialogs, text/select editing and browser fullscreen. A draggable, keyboard-accessible divider adjusts the inspector to a bounded 260–520 px while retaining preview space. Left widens controls, Right widens preview, Shift uses larger steps, Home/End reach the bounds and Enter resets width. On narrow screens controls stack below the picture. View, visibility and preferred width persist locally under phasevoid-workspace-v1, independently of portable sessions. Reset layout restores Studio and 352 px. Layout changes do not start sound, change output pixels, render detail, normalized mapping corners or export dimensions; Stage view is not projector routing or browser fullscreen. ## Independent audio-to-effect links

Audio links independently map Bass, Mid, High, Energy or the detected audio Transient to Kaleidoscope, Pixelation, RGB split and FX amount. Each link has Low/High endpoints, gain, a noise floor and Linear/Smooth/Punch response. Descending endpoints reverse the response. Program links sit in Effects; Mapping has separate links for the selected surface. Links follow the existing shared audio analysis without starting audio or creating another analyser. Sessions, saved compositions/cues and maps retain their respective settings; causal file rendering consumes the current decoded frame. Manual restores the rack value, Clear links removes the routing, Bypass FX disables the rack, and Reset rack also clears links. For repeating BPM-driven movement, choose the separate Beat loop driver. Audio-band mapping is relative signal mapping, not source separation, a new adjustable frequency crossover, independent attack/release timing, a calibrated meter or physical latency correction. ## Audio spectrum composition

Soundwave opens a free Program layer with frequency Spectrum bars, a radial Ring or an instantaneous Waveform. Choose color, position, size, response, opacity and background darkening without replacing or starting audio. The layer uses the existing MP3/WAV or supported live-input signal, sits above Program video/worlds and below titles/artwork, and reaches the composed projector and realtime recording. File-render first-frame review, causal storyboard and encoded films consume the current decoded signal with frozen layer settings at each actual output size. Local/settings-only sessions retain the layer; legacy sessions default off. Freeze/Blackout cover the complete output. Independent mapped world sources and shared procedural-look links exclude this global layer. This is not a whole-track waveform, calibrated meter, lyric generator, source separation or physical latency correction. [Complete workflow](https://phasevoid.com/guides/audio-spectrum-visualizer/).
