# Make techno visuals move with the mix

Canonical guide: https://phasevoid.com/guides/techno-visualizer/
Updated: 2026-10-15

Choose the visual language before you build the show. Watch three different procedural scenes respond to the same sound, then shape the one that fits your track or room.

## One sound, three structures

The three original recordings below were made in desktop Chrome from the same locally synthesized 160 BPM stereo WAV, with a 960 × 540 canvas and one selected scene. Their saved browser WebM files contain moving video and stereo sound; the public MP4s are smaller conversions. They are a controlled comparison of three worlds, not a recording of every scene in the 108-world library or a physical venue performance.

## Pressure pack

12 original generators add separate geometry, motion and preset controls. [Browse their actual scene stills and click-to-play previews](https://phasevoid.com/scenes/#latest-scenes).

- **[Chrome knot](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=chrome-knot&start=demo)**: Interlocking metallic tubes change their lobes, cross in depth and carry travelling spectral ribs. Heavy, sculptural peaks.
- **[Vortex sheet](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=vortex-sheet&start=demo)**: Dense point-sampled sheets fold, curl into vortices and drift through several layers of depth. Immersive particle motion and rolling builds.
- **[Laser switchyard](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=laser-switchyard&start=demo)**: Three scanning laser walls bend and cross into moving diagonal hatches and sweeping curtains. Hard techno scanning formations.
- **[Spectral organ](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=spectral-organ&start=demo)**: A wall of curved three-dimensional cables flexes in depth while luminous packets run along its surface. Industrial rhythm and metallic tension.
- **[Op art axis](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=op-art-axis&start=demo)**: Bold black-and-white ribbons curl into shifting optical islands and reverse across bending boundaries. Graphic breaks and high-contrast movement.
- **[Neural web](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=neural-web&start=demo)**: A moving node network stretches its connections as light signals chase through the branches. Detailed signal movement and buildup.
- **[Diffraction sea](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=diffraction-sea&start=demo)**: Layered iridescent sheets focus into moving caustics, narrow fringes and intersecting liquid folds. Psychedelic fluid passages.
- **[Shutter drive](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=shutter-drive&start=demo)**: Overlapping iris leaves open, shear and occlude one another around a changing aperture. Mechanical buildup and percussive cuts.
- **[Sonic crystals](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=sonic-crystals&start=demo)**: A faceted crystal cluster rotates, tilts and changes its tips under travelling internal light. Sharp, refractive stage sculpture.
- **[Circuit run](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=circuit-run&start=demo)**: Fly over perspective circuit lanes with right-angle branches and independent moving light packets. Driving forward motion and technological tension.
- **[Alien membrane](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=alien-membrane&start=demo)**: Smooth lobes merge into a twisting metallic membrane while cavities open through its surface. Organic transformation and hypnotic breaks.
- **[Ribbon detonation](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?scene=ribbon-detonation&start=demo)**: Slashing ribbon fronts change their width and trajectories as light chases their edges. Percussive accents and energetic peaks.

Opening a scene link does not start audio or request permissions. Start the demo with a click, open your MP3/WAV or choose supported live audio. These original generators do not establish native Resolume parity. The three existing recordings below do not demonstrate the entire Pressure pack.

## Watch the saved twelve-cue show

[Play or download the actual Pressure pack WebM](https://phasevoid.com/media/examples/pressure-pack-160bpm.webm) · [Decoded Laser switchyard poster](https://phasevoid.com/media/examples/pressure-pack-poster.png) · [Choose the twelve new worlds](https://phasevoid.com/scenes/#latest-scenes).

The first-party Studio recording performs all twelve Pressure pack worlds from copied procedural cues driven by the original 160 BPM stereo WAV. The queue was saved in a session, restored and performed with manual **Next** actions and **Cut** transitions, about 1.6 seconds per cue. The cuts were not beat-quantized. The saved VP9/Opus WebM is 1280 × 720, about 19.56 seconds and 15.8 MiB, with 48 kHz stereo sound. Two different decoded moving frames were checked for every new world.

1. Open [Studio](https://phasevoid.com/studio/), choose 16:9 and set Custom dimensions to 1280 × 720. [Download the original WAV](https://phasevoid.com/media/examples/techno-test-loop-160bpm.wav), open it locally and check the meters.
2. Choose the twelve new worlds in catalog order, Chrome knot through Ribbon detonation, and copy each look into the [cue queue](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#sequence), using manual holds and Cut transitions. Save the session, restore it and reattach the WAV. Settings import does not start playback.
3. Start audio, advance with Next about every 1.6 seconds, record a short take, then download and reopen it with sound. This is a repeatable workflow, not a pixel-perfect preset: timing, controls and hardware can change the frames.

This short desktop Chrome test establishes the saved-cue workflow and recorded output. It does not establish physical-controller compatibility, projector latency, hours-long reliability, beat-quantized launching or an artist performance. Browser decoding and achieved performance vary.

## Hear and repeat the source

[Download the original 24-second 160 BPM WAV](https://phasevoid.com/media/examples/techno-test-loop-160bpm.wav): 48 kHz stereo, 16-bit PCM, 4.6 MB, synthesized from oscillators and noise without external music samples. SHA-256: aa8d4dafd54fe18a9ad4f0948450f77f4bbfd18b3d4e6d45fc565a74f1299a28.

1. Open one of the three scene links below. It selects that scene and 16:9 without fetching or playing sound.
2. Press **Play original WAV** in Studio; if playback is blocked, press the transport Play button. Your own MP3/WAV is a separate input option.
3. Set Custom output to 960 × 540 to match the capture dimensions. Scene motion uses its own clock, and the capture did not preserve every control value, so this is not a pixel-perfect preset or universal timing result.

## Signal rupture

Fine white strands change between broad ribbons, curling layers and open apertures. Choose this when the screen needs a dense, sculptural form that can still leave hard black gaps.

## Interference

Nested light lines gather into offset voids, then stretch and reconnect. It is a different rhythm of space from the broad filament surfaces above.

## Solar flare

Orange plasma-like strands become hooks, crossing currents and separated jets. The open black field gives its accents room to read on a large screen.

## Build a short set

Want a complete starting sequence? [Rehearse the eight-act techno set](https://phasevoid.com/journal/techno-vj-set/): exact existing worlds, authored looks, Manual holds and a deliberate route from your own soundtrack to a checked film.

1. Open your file or follow the [live input setup](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#input), then check the audio meters.
2. Choose contrasting forms, tune Look controls and prepare the next procedural look in the [off-air A/B Preview](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#mix).
3. Capture up to 32 acts into the [cue queue](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#sequence), including both local video layers, Program effects and surface looks. Prepare the show, then fire manually or Run with manual, seconds or manual-BPM bar holds and Cut/Dissolve/Dip/Wipe transitions. BPM is supplied, not detected. Older cues keep live clips and effects until recaptured; source files need reattaching after reopening.
4. Optionally combine the procedural base with [two muted local video layers and the final effect rack](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#clip-deck). Clip playback and audio are separate. Optional MIDI can operate supported visual, mix, clip and FX controls, subject to browser permission and hardware support.
5. Check 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 or custom output on the intended screen. Open projector output and [record, download and reopen a short test with sound](https://phasevoid.com/guides/youtube-visualizer/).

The public Studio stays free. For a separately commissioned event identity or installation, [prepare a custom project brief](https://phasevoid.com/custom-visuals/).

## What the evidence does not establish

The existing comparison clips establish short software recordings on one desktop Chrome setup. They do not measure physical mixer/speaker-to-projector latency, prove hours-long reliability or guarantee frame rate on your hardware. Screen lasers are generated pictures, not physical fixtures. Scenes react to measured audio while also evolving independently; the manual BPM grid does not detect phrases or force all geometry to an automatically detected beat.

Use **Gentler motion**, **Freeze** and **Blackout** as needed. Test your actual input, browser, GPU, display and saved format before a show. This library, documentation and MCP metadata do not prove search ranking, indexing or AI citation.
