# Hand over a room someone else can actually operate.

The handover is more than a working button once. Leave the next operator a recoverable setup, an observed acceptance record and clear ownership of anything still untested.

Event horizon · a procedural reference to try in the intended room. This is not a photograph or proof of a commissioned installation.

## Name the operator, the installer and the fallback.

This checklist is a planning aid for the current one-computer, one-projector workflow. It does not certify an installation. Begin with the [projection-versus-lighting decision](https://phasevoid.com/journal/projector-visuals-vs-event-lighting/) if the requested result is still described only as “music-reactive lights”. Decide who owns the picture, audio route, computer, projector and optional building-control configuration.

An operator needs access to the actual Studio controls, not just the room button. An integrator needs the installed model/software details and a private configuration record. Agree who can change network settings, restore the computer and arrange support. Keep unknown equipment or responsibilities as open questions; a plausible default in a brief is not a confirmed specification.

- Record the intended visible result and the one-projector surface arrangement.
- Name the person who starts and stops a normal session.
- Name the person who can recover the computer and building-control setup.
- Agree what to do when the intended picture, sound or room command is unavailable.

## Write startup as an observable sequence.

Start with the computer, display connection and browser. Confirm that the intended picture reaches the projector, then inspect the selected audio source and meters. Choose or reconnect that source deliberately when needed. A saved session does not package audio, artwork or video files, and a page reload is not an instruction to start a live source.

Use [Save session and media recovery](https://phasevoid.com/guides/troubleshooting/#session) to keep the settings and required originals. Reopen the real JSON, reattach files and rehearse representative acts. A download request alone is not a backup check. Keep a known working settings copy while validating a changed one.

For optional Loxone control, use Set up room, inspect its current instructions and pair/arm deliberately. Check the installed Miniserver, Config/firmware, connector computer and actual communication path. The public guide does not prove compatibility with equipment it has never observed. Keep keys and installation addresses in the owner’s private records, outside the public enquiry and shared media.

## Keep three kinds of evidence separate.

First, inspect the software check. Set up room can count successful browser acknowledgements for its supported commands. That is useful evidence about that command path. It is not proof that a real wall control sent the message, a particular projector displayed it correctly or the system stayed reliable for a whole event.

Second, make the visual inspection. Check each captured mode, the actual surfaces, brightness, motion, Freeze and Blackout on the intended output. Check sound response using the intended input and a representative passage. Record the device, dimensions, test conditions and any visible failure. Judge movement on the output, not from a still thumbnail.

Third, commission the real chain. Have the responsible integrator/operator demonstrate the actual Loxone control changing the intended image, then test the agreed loss-of-connection and recovery cases. A connected or armed label and an HTTP response are narrower observations than an applied image. The selected failure policy is something to exercise in the room, not a guarantee about projector behavior after a computer crash.

## Rehearse the interruption you expect to happen.

Close and reopen the browser as part of the agreed handover test. Confirm how settings, original media, audio permissions and room pairing are restored. Refresh does not restore Pair/Arm. Confirm the actual picture after recovery; the fact that the page loaded is not the acceptance result.

Demonstrate the documented local controls and the room’s supported Stop/Blackout behavior before relying on them. Blackout changes the visual output; it does not power off a projector or operate the room’s lighting fixtures. Agree any power, wake, kiosk or restart behavior separately with the installation owner.

Keep the test proportional to the intended use and record its duration honestly. A short check can expose a missing file or wrong mode, but it does not prove an unattended night, every future browser update or another venue. If a required behavior fails, leave that item unresolved and retain the previous working configuration.

## Leave a usable handover, not a pile of credentials.

- A private equipment/configuration record with the responsible operator and integrator.
- The checked settings JSON and required original media, with an explanation of how to reopen them.
- A short startup, normal-operation and shutdown procedure written for the person using the room.
- Observed command, picture, audio and recovery results, including limitations and unresolved items.
- An agreed change/support process and a way to return to the last working setup.

The existing Room setup’s Copy handover omits network data and secrets. Treat it as a starting operator record and add verified local responsibilities privately. Read the [current setup guide](https://phasevoid.com/guides/live-visuals/#loxone-room) and the [Polish v1.53 operator PDF](https://phasevoid.com/integrations/loxone/phasevoid-room-guide-pl-1.53.pdf); their software instructions still require acceptance on your equipment.

For commissioned work, [choose Installation in the existing brief](https://phasevoid.com/custom-visuals/#venue-installation). Separate content creation, browser configuration, on-site hardware testing and ongoing operation. Leave unknown dates, budget, equipment and acceptance arrangements as questions to agree. The enquiry does not send itself, reserve a date or promise those services are included.

## Try the idea

[Review Room setup before connecting anything](https://phasevoid.com/studio/?help=room-control). Opening this task starts no audio, selects no file and grants no input permissions. Review the controls before changing the show.

### Plan a visual room

Decide what the system must do,compose one projector picture, then plan operation and commissioning.

1. [A picture on the wall. A different job from lighting the room.](https://phasevoid.com/journal/projector-visuals-vs-event-lighting/). Separate projected pictures, fixture lighting and building control.
2. [One projector. One clear visual idea.](https://phasevoid.com/journal/one-projector-stage-design/). Give the one-projector picture a clear composition.
3. [Hand over a room someone else can actually operate.](https://phasevoid.com/journal/visual-room-handover/) — this article. Agree startup, recovery, acceptance and operator responsibilities.

Review the existing Room setup before connecting. Keep operator inspection and real Loxone/projector commissioning separate from browser acknowledgements; use the Installation brief for separately agreed work.
